Jakarta, Spektrum-ntt.com|| Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika Johnny G. Plate menyatakan telah mengantisipasi potensi kenaikan trafik menjelang penyelenggaraan Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XX di Papua. Kamis, 24 Juni 2021.

Menurutnya, Kementerian Kominfo akan menyiapkan backup jaringan telekomunikasi untuk mendukung kebutuhan panitia penyelenggara hingga atlet dan ofisial.

“Kami menyadari bahwa akan terjadi peningkatan trafik yang besar, sehingga nanti tentu pasti disiapkan dengan backup telekomunikasi di Papua, baik itu di tempat penyelenggaraan PON, tempat penginapan-penginapan atlet maupun nanti penyelenggara-penyelenggara kegiatan,” ujarnya dalam diskusi Forum Merdeka Barat 9 (FMB 9) Mengintip Kesiapan PON XX Papua, dari Rumah Dinas Menkominfo, Jakarta, Kamis (24/06/2021).

Menteri Johnny menegaskan arti penting menyiapkan backup telekomunikasi baik sebelum, selama dan sesudah penyelenggaraan PON XX Papua berlangsung juga menetukan event olahraga nasional itu tidak terhambat akibat pandemi Covid-19.

“Kita akan berikan backup, karena apa? PON ini juga sangat menentukan bahwa Indonesia tidak terhambat oleh Covid-19, kita tetap mampu melaksanakan itu. Papua dan PB PON harus sukses di dalam melaksanakan PON ini, karena ini menjadi tugas kita bersama,” jelas Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika.

Menurut Menkominfo, operator telekomunikasi seluler telah menyampaikan komitmen untuk memastikan infrastruktur yang dimiliki dapat menjamin kualitas dan didukung dengan backup layanan.

“Termasuk infrastruktur yang dibangun oleh BAKTI Kominfo (Badan Aksesibilitas Telekomunikasi dan Informasi), kita tentu akan memperhatikan last mile BTS-BTS-nya, mobile-mobile BTS dan akses internet, termasuk pemanfaatan satelit untuk mendukung telekomunikasi pada saat sebelum, selama dan sesudah PON di Papua, kalau itu kita sudah siapkan betul-betul,” tandas Johnny G. Plate.

Pemulihan Jaringan Kabel Laut

Kepada Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga Zainudin Amali yang juga hadir di diskusi FMB9, Menteri Johnny menegaskan infrastruktur kabel laut di Utara Jayapura yang sebelumnya dikabarkan putus di kedalaman 4 ribu meter telah dilakukan pemulihan.

Agar tidak menggangu penyelenggaraan PON XX Papua, Kementerian Kominfo bersama operator telekomunikasi seluler telah mengambil langkah cepat untuk melakukan recovery.

“Kita sudah membangun kabel bawah laut di kedalaman yang sama di rute baru, sehingga saat ini layanan telekomunikasi fiber optik data dari Indonesia Barat ke Papua, dan dari Papua ke belahan Indonesia Tengah dan Barat itu sudah kembali normal seperti sebelum terjadi putusnya kabel bawah laut itu,” jelasnya.

Menkominfo menyambut baik keputusan pemerintah dalam melaksanakan PON XX dan Pekan Paralympic Nasional (Perparnas) XVI di Papua. Untuk turut memberikan dukungan penyelenggaraan kedua event nasional tersebut, Menkominfo melihat event internasional sebagai referensi bagi Indonesia. 

“Saya menyambut dengan penuh kegembiraan dan antusias keputusan pemerintah untuk tetap melaksanakan PON XX dan Paralympic XVI di Papua. Saya juga memperhatikan betul bagaimana kesiapan Jepang untuk olimpiade dan saat ini EURO Cup yang sedang berlangsung di Eropa,” jelas Johnny.

Meskipun di tengah situasi pandemi Covid-19, Menteri Johnny menegaskan hal itu tidak menjadi penghambat bagi Indonesia.

“Yang pasti bahwa di situasi pandemi Covid-19 ini, Covid-nya sendiri tidak boleh menjadi penghambat kita, kita harus buktikan bahwa Covid tidak akan bisa mencegah Indonesia dan PB PON Papua untuk melaksanakan kegiatan olahraga ini,” imbuhnya.

Dalam diskusi FMB9, turut hadir Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga Zainudin Amali dan Walikota Jayapura Benhur Tomi Mano.
