SIKKA. SPEKTRUM-NTT.COM || Fabianus Seto, warga kampung Wolokoli, Desa Gera Kecamatan Mego, Kabupaten Sikka mulai kembangkan usaha cengkeh nya sejak tahun 2008. Usaha ini dilakukannya agar bisa bangkit dari keterpurukan hidupnya sebagai seorang petani.

Ketika diwawancarai media ini, Selasa (24/5/2022), dilokasi kebun tepatnya di bukit Pemokamba, Om Fabi sapaan akrabnya mulai mengisahkan awal mula Ia kembangkan usaha cengkeh hingga belasan hektare.

Ia mengatakan, semenjak pulang dari perantauan Malaysia tahun 2021, pada tahun 2003 Ia memulai mengolah lahan dengan menanam anakan kakao namun hasilnya tidak memuaskan sehingga timbul niat untuk memulai menanam cengkeh.

Om Fabi melanjutkan, langkah awal tanaman cengkeh tersebut dimulai dengan uji coba pada tahun 2008 dan 2009 hingga berhasil meyakinkannya untuk fokus membudidayakan tanaman cengkeh.

Lebih jauh, Om Fabi melanjutkan bahwa pada awal tahun 2010 Ia memulai membuka lahan seluas 3 hektare dan memulai menanam anakan cengkeh sebanyak 1.200 pohon dan semuanya berhasil.

"Jadi uji coba ini saya lakukan selama 2 tahun yaitu dari tahun 2008 dan 2009. Tahun 2010 saya mulai tanam besar-besaran dengan total anakan 1.200 pohon dan ternyata semuanya berhasil", Ungkap Om Fabi.

Om Fabi mengungkapkan, dari proses penanaman tersebut, pada tahun 2020 lalu ia mulai melakukan panen perdana dengan kisaran 200 kilogram lebih dengan kisaran harga pada waktu itu Rp. 85.000 per kilogram. Sementara pada tahun 2021 dan 2022 terjadi kegagalan panen karena perubahan musim.

Selain 3 hektare tersebut, Om Fabi mengatakan, ada 4 hektare lagi dengan total tanaman yaitu 1.000 pohon cengkeh yang diprediksikan akan dipanen pada tahun depan. Sehingga total yang nantinya akan siap dipanen sekitar 2.200 pohon.

Sementara itu, Ia mengatakan bahwa ada sekitar 10 hektare lahan yang sementara ditanam sejak tahun 2020 yang juga tetap difokuskan pada tanaman cengkeh.

Menurutnya, upaya ini dilakukan agar Ia bisa bangkit dari keterpurukan hidupnya sebagai seorang petani miskin " Sebagai petani apakah kita tidak bisa keluar dari jurang keterpurukan ini, tentu tidak. Maka timbul ide ayo tanam cengkeh dengan tekuni prosesnya, dan berhasil", Ungkap Om Fabi.

Om Fabi menyatakan bahwa sekitar tahun 2030 ia akan memetik hasil dari tanaman tersebut kisaran puluhan ton dan ia pastikan akan menjadi seorang miliarder baru dari Desa Gera.

Terakhir, Ia mengharapkan perhatian pemerintah untuk membuka akses jalan menuju kebunnya yang berlokasi di Pemokamba, Wolokoli tersebut dengan jangkauan 1 kilometer, karena ia berencana untuk menghadirkan pemerintah untuk melakukan panen raya nantinya.
