Hadjoh, SH menantang Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII) untuk terlibat dalam upaya pemerintah, berkolaborasi menekan laju inflasi dan menjaga kebersihan. Tantangan tersebut disampaikannya saat menghadiri acara Pelantikan Badan Pengurus Harian dan Rapat Kerja Cabang PMII Cabang Kota Kupang yang berlangsung di Aula Kampus Muhammadiyah Kupang, Minggu (26/2).

Dalam sambutannya Penjabat minta PMII untuk tidak menjadi pemuda yang hanya berada dalam tataran abstrak tapi juga mewujudnyatakan keberpihakannya dengan terlibat secara aktif dalam program-program yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat luas dan membawa pengaruh positif bagi sesama. Misalnya dalam menghadapi inflasi, menurutnya PMII bisa turut terlibat mendukung pemerintah dengan ikut menanam tanaman hortikultura yang sering menjadi pemicu inflasi, baik di pekarangan rumah masing-masing maupun di lahan kosong yang sudah diidentifikasi Pemkot Kupang.

George menambahkan saat ini Pemkot Kupang tengah berupaya mewujudkan Kota Kupang yang bersih dan indah. Karena itu dia minta dukungan PMII untuk turut serta mensosialisasikan perilaku hidup bersih bebas dari sampah plastik kepada warga di sekitar lingkungan mereka berada, karena kebersihan merupakan bagian dari iman.

Kepada para pengurus PMII Cabang Kota Kupang, George berpesan, untuk mewujudkan tujuan organisasi mereka perlu membekali diri dengan kecerdasan, kepedulian kepada diri sendiri, sesama dan lingkungan, keberanian, kekuatan serta perlu membangun jaringan atau hubungan kemitraan yang baik termasuk dengan pemerintah. Diakuinya pemerintah tidak dapat berjalan sendiri, butuh dukungan dari banyak pihak termasuk pemuda seperti PMII.

Ketua Bidang SDA dan Energi Pengurus Besar PMII, Rahmat Giffary Bestamin, yang mewakili Ketua Umum Pengurus Besar PMII melantik badan pengurus harian PMII Cabang Kota Kupang, menyampaikan terima kasih kepada Penjabat Wali Kota yang dengan kehadirannya memberikan support serta menjadi penyemangat baru PMII. Diakuinya selain menyelesaikan masalah internal organisasi, pengurus PMII juga perlu turut berpartisipasi dalam pembangunan nasional dan daerah. Diakuinya di era keterbukaan informasi saat ini, PMII tidak membatasi diri tapi mendorong kerja kolaborasi dengan pemerintah. Dijelaskannya gerakan parlemen jalanan yang sering mereka lakukan untuk menyuarakan aspirasi masyarakat, berdasarkan pada paradigma kritis dan informatif merupakan salah satu wujud partisipasi mereka dalam pembangunan daerah meskipun diakuinya agak frontal.

Senada dengan perwakilan Pengurus Besar, Ketua PMII Cabang Kota Kupang, Mukhlis Adiputra Umbu, yang baru dilantik menyambut baik tantangan Penjabat Wali Kota Kupang. Diakuinya dalam rakercab kali ini mereka ingin membangun komitmen untuk membangun kolaborasi bersama pemerintah membangun NTT pada umumnya dan Kota Kupang pada khususnya. Bahkan menurutnya setelah rakercab nanti bersama para pengurus yang baru dilantik akan bersilaturahmi ke Pemkot Kupang guna membahas dan mengawal program pemerintah yang bermanfaat untuk masyarakat.

Sementara itu Ketua Pengurus Wilayah Nahdlatul Ulama NTT, K.H. Pua Monto Umbu, yang turut hadir dalam acara tersebut sebagai sesepuh berpesan, PMII sebagai pemuda, calon pemimpin masa depan perlu memperkuat diri dengan cara bertakwa kepada Tuhan dan menjunjung tinggi akhlak, salah satunya lewat tutur kata yang baik. Dia berharap semua program PMII perlu berorientasi pada dua hal tersebut.

Turut hadir dalam acara tersebut Ketua Ikatan Alumni PMII Kupang, Drs. H. Ibrahim Arif, Wakil Rektor I Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang, serta perwakilan dari sejumlah organisasi kepemudaan (OKP) yang ada di Kota Kupang. *PKP
